Press preview
Lynch Nation
a film by Ashfaque E J & Shaheen Ahmed
The Not In My Name campaign invites you to the press preview of 'Lynch Nation', a documentary that revisits families torn apart by hate attacks which have left many dead and hundreds injured across several states of India. A sustained hate fueled campaign in the name of cow protection has targeted Muslim dairy workers and Dalits as enemies and has poisoned community relations in rural north India. The state has either turned a blind eye to the criminal activities of private militia masquerading as cow protectors, or worse, has colluded with them in weakening ongoing legal cases.
The documentary traces the fate of some of these families as they deal with grief, loss and legal proceedings that are pushing them to the brink.
The film is directed by Ashfaque E J and Shaheen Ahmed.
The families of Pehlu Khan, Junaid and Umar will be present at the screening.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Rebecca Mammen John (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court), Apoorvanand ( Professor, University of Delhi), Amit Sengupta (Journalist) Ashfaque E J (Film Maker), Shaheen Ahmed (Film Maker), Furqan Faridi (Journalist & Film maker) and Saba Dewan (Not In My Name Campaign)
