India: Why on earth is the Idea of India Collective setting a wrong precedent by organising an Iftar celebration, does this mean they will do celebrations on Diwali, Christmas, Buddha Jayanti etc etc ?

Dear friends,
The Idea of India Collective is a loose solidarity gathering of individuals and groups that are committed to the values of India’s constitution as listed in its preamble – justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
We propose to organise a small Iftar celebration on 12 June 2017 to mark the month of Ramzaan. In times of global turmoil, we felt that the best theme for this celebration would be Mohabbat ka Paigham – or a Message of Love. The invitation is attached.
This program will be held at Ummeed Aman Ghar (opposite Qutb Minar, New Delhi – map attached).

Arrival of Guests – 6.30 pm onwards

The Significance of Ramzan, and Mohabbat ke Paigham – Talks by John Dayal, Syeda Hameed and Swami Agnivesh – 6.50 to 7.20 pm
Iftar – 7.20 pm

Poetry on the theme Mohabbat ke Paigham by Gauhar Raza and other poets – 7.40 to 8.15 pm

It would be wonderful if you could please join us for this celebration of peace and communal harmony.

Since this is a collective celebration, we will request every guest to kindly contribute 200 rupees per head for the refreshments. In order to ensure that we are ready for as the number of guests who we will receive, kindly RSVP your confirmation to mahalingamcpa@gmail.com;  prabirp@gmail.com or  manderharsh@gmail.com.

Best regards and greetings for the season,
Seema Mustafa, Prabir Purkayastha, Harsh Mander
