Dear Arvind Kejriwal Saheb

Aadab Arz Hai!

I am writing to you after having seen public announcements and news report announcing the holding of a Delhi govt sponsored public event in the form of 'Saraswati Puja' on 13 February 2016 in the Central Park of Connought Place in Delhi. Sir i would like express my open opposition toward the use of public money for hosting a religious ceremony in a public Park. As a citizen of Delhi i feel a secular government's hard earned funds from the taxpayer should be used for universal public good but where religion is kept out and best left to the private entities and believers.

On the one hand, the Aam Aadmi Party government has shown encouraging inclinations in the defence of secularism and observing even-handedness in its defence of minorities of various hues. It has put its foot down, for example, when Delhi churches were being vandalised by saffron goons; it has set up an Special Investigation Team (SIT) to go into the 1984 anti-Sikh massacres; it was prompt in investigating anti-Muslim violence in Haryana where it produced a useful report, pinning blame on the BJP government in the state. And who can deny that your AAP led the juggernaut stalled the Modi wave that had threatened to swamp the country.

I am therefore, surprised and dismayed seeing that a Saraswati Pooja is being officially hosted by the AAP govt in Delhi. Your govt. should be a trend setter in promoting sponsoring activities to inculcate scientific temper in our very obscurantist and superstitious society; Delhi govt should assure all delhi walas that their freedom of religion is respected by their government but it will not fund religious activity using official funds.

salutations

your sincerely
