Is RSS planning to take leadership of the Ayodhya movement from VHP? The Sangh has devised a new strategy to bring its affiliates closer and push the agenda for a Ram temple. (Dhirendra K Jha)

On December 3, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh tweeted an exhortation from its chief Mohan Bhagwat to “society” to prepare the ground for building a Ram temple. That tweet so inspired saffron groups affiliated to the RSS that they have ever since been working harder towards the temple, unmindful of the fact that the Ayodhya title suit is pending before the Supreme Court.

To consolidate that build-up, the RSS is planning an exercise that it hopes would not only sustain the temple demand but also help it assume the Ayodhya campaign, before the Uttar Pradesh polls in 2017.
