AGRA: Members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad here, in a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have asked for "war" to be declared on Pakistan in the wake of the Pathankot attack.
This came even as the VHP's unit here told the PM that the government must not let the six terrorists killed in the Pathankot encounter to be buried on Indian soil. The memorandum was submitted to the district magistrate, Agra, on Wednesday.
Members of the Bajrang Dal and VHP from the Braj region -- including Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri and Etah -- under the leadership of Chauhan, who heads the VHP's Dharma Prachar Vibhaag (department for the spread of religion), submitted the memorandum at district magistrate Pankaj Kumar's office. Additional district magistrate Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, who received the petition on behalf of the DM, assured the right wingers that it would be forwarded to the PM.
Chauhan, the man who masterminded the "conversion" of about 300 Muslims in an Agra slum in December 2013, said the Bajrang Dal and VHP alone were sufficient to "teach Pakistan a lesson". Alluding to the action in Myanmar by the Indian Army, which launched a massive search operation across the international border after an ambush in Manipur in June that left 18 soldiers dead, he added, "When India can teach Myanmar a lesson, why not Pakistan? All that is needed for an aggressive strike is permission from the prime minister."
