Plush offices, computer labs, libraries, meeting halls and a residential complex with deluxe rooms — the RSS has big plans for its refurbished headquarters in Keshav Kunj, Jhandewalan.
The building plans for the headquarters, designed by Gujarati architect Anup Dave, who studied in France, have been submitted to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation for approval.
The office-cum-residential complex will be used by both RSS pracharaks and guests.
Sources said the RSS wanted to occupy a part of the road for the building, and the Delhi Development Authority was approached to change the master plan. But after realising that it was a cumbersome and time-consuming process, the RSS decided to build the headquarters in its own space.
According to the plan, which is awaiting approval of the civic authorities, the headquarters will have a basement, six floors and a terrace. Each floor will be divided into three blocks.
Block A on the ground floor will have an office, two meeting halls, eight rooms, two lifts and two toilets. Block B will have a reception area, a foyer, a meeting hall and a lift lobby. Block C will, among other things, include two bedrooms with attached kitchen, bathroom and store room.
The first floor will have a library and a computer lab, among other areas. The second floor, likely to be called Prakashan Bhawan, will also have a library, along with an open terrace.
The other floors, too, are similar in structure, with several conference halls as well as computer rooms. A special room would be provided for archiving and computer documentation.
The total plot area covered by the headquarters would be 17,309 square metres, while the total covered area would be 20,183 square metres. The permissible floor area ratio is 120.
