In place of the customary joy, the festival season this year has brought with it trouble for residents of a particular block in North East Delhi’s Mansarovar Park who allege that a Ramlila Committee is using the festival for political activities and is also flouting the norms laid down by the police.

A group of residents from the Retired Pension Scheme Avasiya Yojna Jan Kalyan Samiti have written a letter to the Joint Commissioner of Police (Licensing) complaining that the organisers, Nav Kush Ramlila Committee, were using a children’s park belonging to DDA which is not meant for holding events such as Ramlila.

They also alleged that some of those in the organising committee, who enjoy the patronage of a Congress MLA, have also encroached upon a strip of land in the colony to illegally build a temple.
