British Indian Muslims urge British Government to declare the 68 terrorists persona non grata
British Indian Muslims have urged British Government to declare the 68 people persona non grata found guilty by the Justice Liberhan Commission for the demolition of 16th centaury Babri Mosque on 6 December 1992.
In a statement issued to mark the 18th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Mosque, Chairman of Council of Indian Muslims—UK (CIM) Mr Mohammad Munaf Zeena said, “Although the role in the demolition of the historic mosque of these people, including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former Deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani, was no secret, Justice Liberhan Commission has established their guilt beyond doubt. Not only are they responsible for the demolition of a religious historic monument, they are also guilty of inciting anti-Muslim riots over the country and the killings of thousands of innocent people. Therefore, in view of not only putting an end to any possible support from British soil to these fascists in India but also to prove that it is against fascism in any form, the British Government must declare these 68 people persona non grata and never allow them enter into the UK.”
Zeena also demanded that the Indian Government must also take without any delay all the necessary steps to prosecute and punish these guilty people and hand over the Babri Mosque site to Indian Muslims.
Babri Mosque was built in 1528 by Baqi Beg Tashqandi, the Governor General of Mughal Emperor Babar to mark the victory of Mughal army over a Pathan Muslim King, Sikandar Lodhi. There is no historic or archaeological evidence to prove either of Babar’s going to Ayodhya or any existence of a Hindu temple on Babri Mosque site. With the connivance of the administration the Mosque was closed to Muslims in 1949 and converted into a de facto temple after the statues of Rama and his consort Sita were smuggled and planted there. However, in order to gain political mileage and financial gains in the 80s BJP leaders suddenly turned their politics towards what they call the liberation of the birth place of Hindu deity Rama and on 6 December 1992 destroyed the mosque in full un-ashamed media glare.
