I have received a telephone call around 12-00 noon from Mr Melville Pinto a well known social worker who is having a Newspaper cum STD stall at Moti Mahal junction in Mangalore stating that about 15 to 20 /youngsters on motorbikes came to his stall and threatened to attack him if he does not stop selling Karavali Ale, a Kannada Newspaper which is known to expose all evils in the society, including corruption and human rights violations by the govt. They called themselves as "Bajrang Dalies"
Enough violations crimes and disturbances of law and order and causing hatred between different communities has been done for the last 6 month in Mangalore by Sangh Parivar who call themselves in several names, and the Police Dept has not taken any steps against these criminals so far.
Govt will be held solely responsible for all consequences, if they fail to stop the criminal activities of Sang Parevar. Forthwith
The purpose of this letter is to call upon the government to put a full stop to these anti social actirities and protect the Freedom of Press and all the journalists, their houses and their offices. As well as peace loving citizens of Mangalore. It is very clear that one R.S.S. leader is financeing these operations and protecting these creminals from Police action. In fact the conspirator requires to be arrested as he has instigated these youngsters to violence in public speeches.
Special protection should be given to Karavali Ale and Vartha Bharathi establishments its owners and its officials, failing which entire law and order situation is likely to be seriously disturbed. In all likely hood some may lose their lives in the process.
We also call upon the State Administration to arrest all creminials who attacked Christians and their places of workship in Sept 2008 and those who attacked Karavale Ale Press recently.
Let proper and effective Police protection be given to the establishments and owners and efficials of Karavali Ale and Vartha Bharati. And vendors selling News papers like Karwal Ale and Vartha Bharathi.
