Sunday, December 3, 2006 (Bangalore ):

There is still a huge police presence in Chikmagalur in Karnataka - a day after the BJP took out its Shobha yatra as the main Dattatreya peetha Puja has been planned for Monday.

The BJP went ahead with the Yatra at the communally sensitive Bababudangiri hills in Chikmagalur district.

The district is also the site of a Sufi shrine. The BJP is in power in Karnataka for the first time.

Police are checking every vehicle going to Daata Peetha shrine and 3,000 security personnel have been deployed along the route to the shrine.

JD(S), partner with BJP in coalition, is not happy with BJP's plan.
