Delhi CM's TV messages & ads on Dussehra-Diwali betray a confused understanding of State functions in relation to religious/cultural occasions which have to be confined to greeting the community or people. And to conclude these with the VHP-RSS code whistle is unacceptable.

"Jai Shri Ram" was not an Indian or even Hindu chant. The greeting that I w'ld often hear upon two north India Hindus crossing each other in the street was "Jai Ramji ki" or "Ram, Ram". "JSR" was devised later as a code whistle in VHP-led stir for demolition in Ayodhya-Faizabad
