Exposé: Who runs the serial misinformation factory ‘Yogi Adityanath Ki Sena’?

A Facebook page योगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना (@YogiSenaGKP) has an impressive following of over 6.5 lakh users. Named after the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, deciphering its political bend is a no-brainer. In the aftermath of Congress’s victory in the assembly elections last year, the page shared a clipped video of Rahul Gandhi to suggest that he took a U-turn on farm loan waivers. The false clip drew nearly 1 lakh views.

योगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना  is well-stocked with such misinformation targeting opposition parties. But more on that later. This report will first investigate the person administrating the propaganda platform.

Behind the scenes

योगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना  routinely shares articles by its corresponding website of the same name – yogi-sena.co.in.

Alt News accessed the Whois data of the website (now hidden) and found that it is registered under the name of one Amit Saxena. The data also revealed the registered phone number and address of the website, which have been blurred in the screenshot below for privacy concerns.

We looked-up the phone number provided in the Whois data on Truecaller and found that it was indeed Amit Saxena’s. Trucaller also displayed his email address, which matched his Twitter id.

Saxena’s Twitter account is mostly a repository of retweets of tweets byयोगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना  and another handle named HinduRepublicOfIndia which also has a Facebook page by the same name. From what it seems, he could be associated with both the platforms.


We found that Amit Saxena has been identified as the admin of योगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना on several posts by the page, hinting at a direct connection.

Alt news also discovered that Saxena, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was also tagged on posts by the official handle of BJP UP ahead of the state assembly elections in 2017.
योगी आदित्यनाथ की सेना isn’t only a propaganda platform but routinely circulates misinformation attempting to deceive its lakhs of followers.
