In a sensational development, a group of Hindu Yuva Vahini goons on Friday allegedly climbed atop a mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district to hoist the national flag while profusely chanting the slogans of Vande Matram.
The incident, according to reports, took place in Adauli on Friday. Hindu Yuvani Vahini is a militant Hindutva organisation, which was founded by Yogi Adityanath, the current chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Bulandshahr’s Superintendent of Police, Praveen Ranjan Singh, said that there were two incidents of communal flare-ups in the village on Friday, when Hindutva militants made desperate attempts to damage the mosque.
In the video a group of men are seen chanting Vande Matram while two of them have already climbed atop the mosque’s minaret to hoist a flag, which appears to be the tricolour.
Singh said that his forces were busy identifying the culprits and appropriate actions will be taken against them.
According to some reports, the Hindutva militants had gathered in the village after learning about the existence of a dead cow there.
There have been phenomenal increase in the incidents of communal riots since Adityanath became the state’s chief minister in March this year. In the first 100 days of Aditynath become the chief minister, the state had recorded 2317 incidents of riots between 16 March and 31 May this year. This witnessed an increase of more than 30 percent compared to the last year, when 1771 rioting cases were reported during the same period.
