MUMBAI: The man who sent lewd messages to BJP functionary Shaina NC has been identified as Jayantkumar Singh alias Sinku. He claims to be a BJP activist from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. While the police team has gone to nab him, Shaina wants a strict action against him so that a strong signal is sent to such perverts.

Last month Shaina a fashion designer, politician and a BJP functionary had lodged a complaint against Jayantkumar for sending her vulgar and obscene messages on her mobile phone. According to police the accused initially sent birthday wishes to Shaina and even had referred her as sister but in January the tone of his message on whatsapp changed. He started sending very lewd and objectionable messages after which Shaina decided to teach the accused a lesson.

Police had registered an offence for outraging modesty of woman and relevant sections of the Information technology (IT) Act. Police had even sent a team to Varanasi to nab him. "I am really surprised as to how the accused was sending such dirty messages to me. What about the common women as there may be several of such people harassing the victims who not dare to file a complaint. My purpose of registering complaint in this case was to teach him a lesson and also build a confident among many other women in our society," said Shaina.

Shaina further said that she is also likely to start a helpline through her father's NGO which would legally help those women who have been targeted by such perverts. "This helpline will legally help/guide victim women who are not financially and emotionally strong to fight back in such cases." added Shaina.

Meanwhile police said that their team has almost got the accused Jayantkumar who is likely to be brought to Mumbai by Sunday.
