A resistance by creative and reflective community and all conscientious people

Against attacks on reason, democracy & composite culture

From intolerance to sedition, from suppressing dissent to misusing state machinery, the current tirade against intellect and ideas, against spaces of debate-discussion-dissent, against allowing universities to remain sites of plurality, free knowledge and expression undermining them as centres of intellectual pursuit and protest, a climate of nation- wide fear, stress and tension is being created. Democratic, legal and cultural processes are being usurped and misused to impose a parochial, majoritarian, uniform and exclusive view of India, its culture and tradition. We cannot allow this view, its strategies, its fearful implications to go unexamined and unchallenged since we love our country, its plural culture and tradition, its people and their tremendous possibilities, their past and struggles. As another session of Pratirodh (Resistance) some of us are organising a session on 8th April 2016 and solicit your support and participation.

रचने, सोचने और अंतःकरण से प्रेरित लोगों का विवेक, लोकतंत्र और साझा संस्कृति पर प्रहारों के विरुद्ध

असहिष्णुता से राजद्रोह, असहमति दबाने से राज्य मशीनरी के दुरूपयोग, इस समय बुद्धि और विचारों, विवादसंवाद- असहमति की जगहों के विरुद्ध, मुक्त ज्ञान, अभिव्यक्ति, विश्वविद्यालयों को बहुलता के केंद्र बने रहने के खिलाफ़, उनके बौद्धिक जिज्ञासा और विरोध के केंद्रों के अवमूल्यन को लेकर जो मुहीम चालू है उससे देश भर में डर, दबाव, धमकियों का माहौल बना दिया गया है। लोकतांत्रिक, कानूनी और सांस्कृतिक प्रक्रियाओं को हड़पा जा रहा है भारत, उसकी परंपरा और संस्कृति का एकात्म और इकहरा रूख़ सब पर थोपने के लिए। हम इस रुख, उसके मयावह आशयों और उसके तौर-तरीकों को बिना जांच-परख और चुनौती के हावी नहीं होने दे सकते क्यूंकि हम अपने देश , उसकी बहुल संस्कृति और परंपरा, उसके लोगों और उनकी अपार संभावनाओं से, उनके अतीत और संघर्ष से पयार रखते हैं। इस सिलसिले में हम 8 अप्रैल 2016 को 'प्रतिरोध' की एक सभा आयोजित कर रहे हैं जिसमें शामिल होने और समर्थन करने का हम न्योता देते हैं।
