Protest Against Murder of Prof Kalburgi, and Attack on Democracy

The fascist offensive on our Right to Express our Views and Democracy is multi-pronged. Now it is Prof Kalburgi who has been murdered, after Dr. Dabholkar and Com Pansare, and again, as usual, the police is saying no leads.

Meanwhile, you must be aware of the circular issued by the Maharashtra Government whose implication is that criticism of the Government would be considered as a crime that would invite charge of Sedition. This is ostensibly in response to a decision by the Mumbai High Court. This is a deliberate effort by the ruling BJP government to crush dissent, is a step towards an undeclared emergency being imposed on people. We must fight it.

Socialist Party (India) and Lokayat have decided to launch an agitation against this, together with other progressive groups.
