From the Editor’s Desk
This May saw the completion of first year of Modi Sarkar. While there are tall claims about Acche Din, good governance and better leadership, the ground reality is totally the opposite. This year saw that the electoral promises of control over prices, bringing back illegal money, creation of jobs etc. was all just deluding claims! The price rise continues, illegal money stashed abroad and within the country thrives, the governance is becoming more authoritarian and the plight of farmers continues to worsen. On the ground as far as intercommunity relations are concerned; this year was a night mare of sorts. The attacks on churches, the mosques went up in number and communal clashes spread far and wide. While the major riots did not take place the low intensity violence is spreading continuously. The RSS combine is coming to the center stage in the state with increasing role in the matters of culture and education. RSS worthies are main advisors of the education policies. The Yoga in schools is becoming the part of government pattern. Maharashtra BJP led Government banned the possession of beef and in the revised law even bullock has been included in the prohibited list. BJP government in MP went on to the extent of stopping eggs as a part of midday meals for the children. The RSS affiliates are becoming more assertive as the Prime Minister talks of respecting all religions. A clever move to hide the deeper agenda of communalizing the society and corporatizing the economy is going hand in hand. Modi with all shrewdness is trying to win over a section of Muslim leadership into believing that the divisive agenda will be curtailed, and this at a time when the half built mosque in Atali was destroyed and Modi’s RSS coworkers are demanding the building of Ram temple. In Foreign policy matters Modi is planning to visit Israel, a country which is suppressing and curtailing the rights of Palestinians, in violation of the resolutions of United Nations.
