NEW DELHI: BJP member Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday once again raked up the 'Hindustan-is-for-Hindus' controversy. Launching a new Hindutva outfit, Swamy said science had proven that the DNA of Hindus and Muslims in India was the same and that Hindustan was for those who were Hindus.

He also said Christians had accepted that their ancestors were Hindus and there was opposition to this idea only from a section of Muslims.

"Hindustan unhi ka hai jo Hindu hain (India belongs to those who are Hindus)," Swamy said even as he elaborated that all those who conceded that their ancestors were Hindus despite being from other religions were also Hindustanis.

Swamy made the statement while announcing the formation of Virat Hindustan Sangam (VHS) — an organization that would articulate Hindutva values through youth and academic forums and find "Hindutva solutions" to national issues. Swamy said the organization was for Hindus and all those who "acknowledge their ancestors were Hindus".

"Even science shows that DNA of Hindus and Muslims is same... Christians concede that their ancestors were Hindus but there is opposition from Muslims," Swamy said, adding that many members of VHS were Muslims who had accepted their ancestors to be Hindus.

Swamy also reiterated his "god lives in temples and not mosques" comment, saying a controversy was created because people were ignorant. "Wherever a temple is erected after Pran Pratishtha Puja, the lord enters the statue. Conversely, Saudi Arabia has shifted many mosques saying it was just a place for prayers," Swamy said.

The BJP member also said VHS would push for Hindutva issues like securing the disputed Ram Mandir area for building a temple by persuading Muslims to accept an alternative site. "We will take up from January 1, 2016 the Ram temple issue. I want the government to follow the Saudi Arabian example of offering the Waqf Board a site across the Saryu river for building a mosque... and leave the Ram temple premises completely for temple," he said.

"We hope to complete it by the end of 2016 because of our activism, both in courts and in terms of pushing the government," he said, adding that he would have finished most of his legal work in the Supreme Court by then.

Swamy said VHS would also fight for scrapping of Article 370. "It is there in BJP's manifesto and we will have to take it up before 2019," Swamy said.
