#Alwar #Rajasthan A near complete flyover in the NCR town Alwar was about to be named after Mahatama Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse till the media got wind of the said move, said a report.

Recently, BJP's Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj stoked a controversy by describing Godse as a “nationalist“ and “patriot”.

When quizzed about the move, senior district officials feigned ignorance about the issue.

A plaque with the words ‘Rashtravadi Nathuram Godse Pul’(Nationalist Nathuram Godse Bridge) was found cemented at the flyover railing.

Following the controversy, district collector Mahavir Swami sent a team of officials to remove the plaque inscription. The collector has blamed anti-social elements for the act, however he failed to explain how the plaque could be embedded without drawing the attention of the workers.

The flyover, built at a cost of Rs 22 cr, will connect Bhagat Singh Circle to Agrasen Circle in the city.

Former Congress MP Bhanwar Jitendra Singh has alleged that flyover was being named after Godse at the behest of BJP leaders as government officials themselves had put up the plaque.
