Modi Speaks a lie about Sardar Patel’s Funeral - statement from All India Secular Forum

Modi Speaks a lie about Sardar Patel’s Funeral

In an interview to Dainik Bhaskar in Ahmadabad Narendra Modi (26th Oct 2013) criticized country’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru for not attending the funeral procession of the then home minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. One knows Modi has been resorting to the motivated propaganda about so many things to build up his image. Many of his claims of development of Gujarat are also false. One knows that it was Sardar Patel who said that it is due to the ‘Hate spread by RSS, Modi’s parent organization, that we had to lose the Father of our Nation’. Now this statement of his about Nehru is again a blatant lie. Morarji Desai in his Autobiography, Vol 1, Page 271, para 2, writes that the President of India Babu Rajendra Prasad and the Prime Minister of India Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru attended the funeral of Sardar Patel, which was held in Mumbai.

Such false hoods have been the basis on which Modi is building his image amongst a section of society. We condemn this statement of his and demand and apology from Modi for this falsehood being spoken by him.
