Mumbai: Malegaon blast accused Major (Retd.) Ramesh Upadhyay is likely to join the ranks of politicians contesting elections from jail.

He was planning to contest in the Lok Sabha elections and sought permission from the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court on Friday, his lawyer Naveen Chomal said. “I have submitted an application to the court seeking permission for filling up forms and doing other paper work. Mr. Upadhyay is in talks with certain parties,” Mr. Chomal said. He did not reveal which party Upadhyay intended to join.
