MUMBAI: Reviving his anti-North Indian campaign on an ominous note, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Friday served a month's ultimatum to Marathi officials to stop helping influx of "outsiders" by issuing bogus domicile certificates and driving licences.
"I will communicate with you (Marathi officials) again after a month. If no action is taken from your end, MNS will undertake the job of maintaining law and order", Raj said in a statement after addressing party workers here.
Holding corruption in government system while issuing various permits responsible for the influx of North Indians in the state, Raj said officials should not bend rules for petty benefits.
"I appeal to you not to give bogus ration cards, driving licences and domicile certificates to migrants. This encourages them to start illegal activities in our state," the MNS chief said.
"The hordes of migrants coming here encroach upon government land, create shanties and indulge in illegal activities. Arms are imported in Maharashtra from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on a large scale," he said.
Raj targetted the security guards hailing from UP and Bihar and security agencies employing them. "Obtaining arms licences in Maharashtra legally is an impossible task. Then, who gives these people all-India arms permit so easily"? he said.
Raj announced a helpline for reporting against outsiders.
