Ludhiana, October 5
The Danga Peerit Welfare Association, an organisation of victims of November 84 anti-Sikh riots, in Delhi and other parts of the country has demanded that the cases relating to these riots be reopened again as was being done in the case of Godhra riots in Gujarat.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the president of the association, Mr Surjit Singh, alleged that the ‘84 riots victims did not get any justice from the government or the judiciary as most of the culprits were still moving scot-free.

The copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the President, the Chief Justice of India, and the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

The memorandum has given graphical description of the incidents leading to killing of thousands of Sikhs in the Capital allegedly at the hands of the Congress workers and leaders. He said instead of being punished, the culprits were enjoying the privileges of power.

Urging the Prime Minister to reopen the ‘84 riot cases, Mr Surjit Singh pointed out that the government had rightly reopened the Godhra cases as the victims were not given the due justice.

He said a delegation of the riot victims would soon be meeting the President of India, the Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister to press for their demands.
