Communal flare-up in UP; 38 arrested
Kushinagar, Oct 20.(UNI): At least 25 people were injured after members of two communities clashed over the hoisting a flag near the 'Durga' idol in Padrauna town in this district, injuring police said today.
Police said 38 people were arrested in this connection.
The communal flare-up took place last night and 25 people including a Station House Officer were injured in stone-throwing, arson and violence.
The dispute took place after members from the two communities clashed over hoisting a flag near the 'Durga' idol installed in Kotwali area of Padrauna.
The 38 people arrested were sent to Deoria jail.
IG (Gorakhpur Zone) Rameshwar Dayal along with DIG (Padrauna Range) S C Yadav visited the area. PAC and RAF personnel have been deployed to deal with any untoward incident.
