Mumbai, August 20: THE Vice Chairman of the State Minorities Commission, Dr Abraham Mathai, has written to the police asking for a controversial Thane meeting to be stopped. Handbills issued by the Bajrang Dal have been doing the rounds of Wada taluka in Thane inviting people to a ‘‘Hindu gathering’’ on August 22 at 10 am at Bramangaon, to ‘‘fight conversions’’. ‘‘Tribal Christians (in Wada) fear for their lives,’’ Mathai said, adding that ‘‘a similar meeting in Wada in April-May saw Christians beaten and driven away and their houses burnt’’.
