VHP members stir against Pak singer’s concert, detained

Ten members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, who were protesting against Pakistani pop singer Atif Aslam's concert scheduled on November 23 in Ahmedabad, were detained on Wednesday. The Saffron activists torched posters of the the singer to protest against the concert.

The accused included VHP city co-ordinator Raju Patel, Bajrang Dal city co-ordinator Bachu Ladva, Bajrang Dal member Jwalit Mehta and seven others. The accused were detained at the Sardar Patel stadium for three to four hours and let off late evening.

Raju Patel, city coordinator of VHP, said, "We are against the concert of a Pakistani singer in Ahmedabad. Pakistani soldiers are beheading Indian soldiers. The tension in Kashmir is only growing by each passing day due to Pakistan's infiltration. In such an environment, Pakistani singer has no right to perform at Karnavati (Ahmedabad)."
