Delhi University Public Meeting on Communalism and Democracy

Public Meeting
on Communalism, Fascism, Decmocracy: Rhetoric and Reality

We all are witness to the series of bomb blasts across the country including in Delhi. The series of blasts from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Malegaon to Delhi have pushed the people to the brink of xenophobia and have given teeth to the government to brazen towards a fascist policy of governance. The Delhi blast spurt the government into action and as usual it led to the fixed target-hunting of two young Muslims in the Muslim ghetto of Jamia Nagar without an iota of evidence proved against the deceased so far for their alleged 'terrorist activities', accompanied by the mysterious gunning down of a Delhi Special Cell police officer.

The atrocities on Christians in Kandhamal, Orissa and the spate in the attack on the churches and other Christian institutions in Karnataka, Tamilnadu with the active connivance of the respective governments stand testimony to the sanction for the Hindutva fascist activities in the recent times—killing, raping and maiming. Worst kinds of atrocities are being committed by the fascist Hindutva forces in Jammu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere.

In view of this increasing onslaught of the right- wing Hindu communal-fascist forces, a public meeting is going to be held in the University of Delhi by students and teachers. We invite you to come and participate in the meeting.
